DevOps Engineer / Administrator (w/m/d)


The ZIB is the central IT service provider for the Lower Saxony judiciary and is responsible for a modern IT infrastructure comprising approximately 23,500 PC workstations. In addition, our team of 400 colleagues manages numerous digitization projects aimed at modernizing the judiciary.

To strengthen our team in Department 3104 – Windows Server, Fabric, Containerization, Storage & Backup, we are seeking a

DevOps Engineer / Administrator (f/m/d)

Your responsibilities:

  • As part of a cross-functional DevSecOps team, you will manage the IT infrastructure used by the Lower Saxony judiciary.
  • Your focus will be on the administration and continuous development of our container platform (e.g., Kubernetes, GitLab, Kasten IO) based on RedHat OpenShift. In this role, you will ensure the constant availability of the data required by the courts and public prosecutor’s offices in Lower Saxony.
  • You will support specialist teams during onboarding processes in the implementation of container-based applications.

What sets you apart:

  • a relevant degree in information technology and at least two years of professional experience, or equivalent skills and experience with IT qualifications
  • Proficiency in the administration of container and container orchestration technologies (Kubernetes, RedHat OpenShift)
  • Proficiency in working with common DevOps tools (GitLab, Argo CD, Helm, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Linux is desirable.
  • Additionally, we would welcome experience in automating recurring tasks and processes using Ansible or other frameworks.
  • We also value knowledge of agile working methods (SCRUM, Kanban, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a team, initiative, and a service-oriented mindset
  • German language skills at the C1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, as well as English language skills at a level customary in the IT sector

The position requires a willingness to undergo and successfully complete a security clearance in accordance with § 7 (1) of the Lower Saxony Security Clearance Act (Nds. SÜG).
